Privacy policy

Terragent is a Shopify app that analyses a store's sales by region. It is operated by mcstech, llc, 8051 N Tamiami Trail Ste E6, Sarasota, FL 34243, United States. This policy explains what we collect when a merchant installs it, why, and what we never collect.

What we collect from the merchant's store

• Orders: date, sales channel, totals (subtotal, shipping, discounts, tax, refunds), product cost, and the order's area-level location: country, state or province, city, postal code, and coordinates rounded to about 1 km. Discount codes and an affiliate reference attribute if present.
• Customers: only a one-way keyed hash of the customer ID, so we can count repeat buyers. We do not store names, emails, phone numbers or street addresses.
• Store analytics: daily visit, cart, checkout and order counts by country and region from Shopify Analytics, and shipping label costs.
• Ad accounts the merchant connects: daily spend, clicks, impressions and conversions by campaign and region, and the access tokens needed to read them (encrypted).
• Settings the merchant enters, such as an alert email address.

What we never do

We do not identify or track individual shoppers, resolve visitors to identities, sell data, or use one store's data to target another store's customers.

Klaviyo lists

If a merchant sends a regional list to their own Klaviyo account, Terragent reads matching customer emails from the merchant's Shopify store at that moment and passes them to Klaviyo. We don't keep them.

Anonymous benchmarks

Only if a merchant opts in, their regional conversion rates are pooled with other opted-in stores in the same category. A benchmark is shown only when at least five stores contribute, so no store's figures can be identified.

Service providers

• Hosting and database: Fly.io and Neon (United States).
• AI features: Anthropic processes aggregated, region-level figures and merchant questions. No customer personal data is sent.
• Email alerts: Resend.
• Advertising platforms the merchant chooses to connect (Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Advertising): we read reports and, only after the merchant approves a change, update location bids or exclusions.
• Klaviyo, only if the merchant connects it (see above).
• Public reference data (no merchant data sent): US Census Bureau, World Bank, Open-Meteo.

This website

Our public website (terragent.app) does not set advertising cookies. If we add privacy-friendly visit statistics, this policy will say so before they go live.

Your rights

Merchants can ask us for a copy of their data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing us. Shoppers should contact the store they bought from; Shopify forwards their access and deletion requests to us and we act on them.

Retention and deletion

Data is kept while the app is installed. When a merchant uninstalls, Shopify sends a shop deletion request 48 hours later and we delete all of that store's data. We act on customer data and deletion requests forwarded by Shopify.
